Beachside Teen Treatment Center

About Our Adolescent Residential Treatment Centers in California

At Beachside Teen, we provide specialized mental health and substance abuse treatment for adolescents in a serene Malibu setting. Our accredited programs combine clinical excellence with compassionate care to help teens and families navigate life’s challenges.

Setting Standards for Adolescents & Families

Why Beachside Teen?

At Beachside Teen Treatment Center, we uphold a fundamental truth: adolescent healing requires family transformation.

Our Malibu-based facility specializes in comprehensive care for teens navigating mental health disorders, dual diagnosis disorders, behavioral challenges, trauma, and substance abuse issues.

The adolescent years create a unique developmental crossroads—neither childhood nor adulthood—where communication breaks down and relationships strain. Our clinical approach addresses this reality by treating the entire family system, not just the adolescent in isolation.

Understanding Adolescence

We recognize that teens aren’t broken—they’re navigating complex environments that often leave them feeling inadequate. With social media and societal pressures telling adolescents they’re not “enough,” many struggle to develop healthy coping mechanisms. Our therapeutic approach addresses these challenges by meeting teens where they are.

Your child is our priority and we aim to provide a healing environment that is multi-layered and multi-faceted, in order to ensure that recovery is complete, deep-rooted, wholesome, and long-lasting.

Our Purpose and Promise

At our residential adolescent treatment centers in California, our purpose extends beyond traditional treatment approaches. We recognize that adolescents exist within family systems, and meaningful change requires addressing both individual needs and family dynamics.

Therapeutic Environment & Clinical Expertise

We promise to create a therapeutic environment where teens feel secure enough to be vulnerable—a critical prerequisite for authentic healing.

Each staff member specializes in addressing the unique challenges facing today’s teens. Our clinicians stay current with the latest evidence-based approaches while maintaining the compassion needed to connect with adolescents.

Treating The Whole Family As A Client

We commit to treating the whole family as our client. This means equipping parents with new communication strategies while helping teens develop healthy coping mechanisms. The parent-child relationship often suffers during adolescence not from lack of love, but from lack of effective tools for connection.

Individualized Care

Our promise includes delivering individualized care backed by evidence-based methodologies. We recognize that each teen’s journey is unique, requiring personalized approaches rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.

Sustainable, Long-Term Outcomes

Finally, we promise to focus on sustainable, long-term outcomes. Our 90-day structured program builds a foundation for lasting change, emphasizing family reintegration and providing continued support.

Our Adolescent Foundations Of Care

Every part of our program is designed with the adolescent journey in mind. From addressing the root causes of their struggles to helping families rebuild their relationships, our approach isn’t just about recovery—it’s about transformation.

Education: Laying the Groundwork for Understanding

Understanding is the first step toward meaningful change. For teens, this means learning to recognize the emotions, thought patterns, and behaviors that drive their struggles. Instead of simply reacting to consequences, we help them connect the dots between their actions and underlying issues.

For parents, education is equally vital. Many are unfamiliar with terms like deflection, a common behavior where teens shift blame or avoid accountability. Through family sessions, we equip parents with the knowledge to recognize these patterns and navigate them constructively. By understanding the “why” behind their teen’s actions, families can work together more effectively, fostering healthier communication and deeper empathy.

Experiential: Learning Through Doing

True growth happens outside of comfort zones, and that’s where experiential activities come in. At Beachside Teen, we encourage teens to engage in hands-on activities like art therapy, outdoor challenges, and mindfulness practices.

These experiences aren’t just fun—they’re transformative. Teens learn how to take risks, express themselves in new ways, and build resilience through trial and error. Whether it’s painting their emotions onto a canvas or finding strength during a hike, surf therapy, equine therapy, or experiential therapy, we teach them that growth is a process of discovery, creativity, and persistence.

Individualized: Rigorous, Tailored Care

Our commitment to individualized care is reflected in our five individual therapy sessions per week, an intensive standard that allows us to dig deeply into each adolescent’s struggles.

We don’t stop at surface-level issues like sneaking out or defiant behavior. Instead, we explore the root causes—whether it’s trauma, anxiety, or depression—and craft treatment plans that address these core challenges. When necessary, we also offer psychological testing to ensure no stone is left unturned in understanding and addressing a teen’s needs.

Family: Rebuilding Relationships Together

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, which is why family involvement is a cornerstone of our program.

We offer structured opportunities for families to reconnect and rebuild trust:

  • Week three: Families are invited to visit their child and spend quality time together.
  • Day and overnight passes: As treatment progresses, teens can go on passes with their family, easing the transition back home and reinforcing the work done in therapy.
  • Family therapy sessions: These sessions tackle long standing dynamics, foster healthier communication, and create a stronger foundation for the future.

We encourage parents to allow their teens to experience frustration and discomfort as part of the healing process. Do not rescue your child. These challenging moments are where growth truly takes root, and the lessons learned will have lasting impact.

Skill-Building Treatment

Life doesn’t come with a manual, but at Beachside Teen, we strive to equip adolescents with the tools they need to navigate it successfully.

Our program focuses on teaching practical skills like:

  • Emotional regulation to manage overwhelming feelings
  • Healthy communication to express needs and resolve conflicts
  • Problem-solving strategies to tackle challenges with confidence

These skills aren’t just taught—they’re practiced and reinforced every day, ensuring teens leave with the ability to handle life’s ups and downs.

Strength-Based Approach: Focusing on Potential

Rather than dwelling on what’s “wrong,” we focus on what’s right. Every teen has strengths, and our job is to uncover them. By emphasizing their potential and celebrating their victories, no matter how small, we help teens build self-esteem, resilience, and a sense of empowerment. They learn to see themselves not as problems to be solved but as individuals with limitless possibilities.

Connection: Creating a Safe, Supportive Environment

The first 30 days of treatment are often the hardest. As teens adjust to a new environment, they may struggle with homesickness, frustration, or resistance. By day 30, many start to feel more comfortable—but this is also when natural regression can occur.

We view these moments as opportunities. With the support of our skilled team, teens learn to confront their challenges head-on, rather than avoiding or deflecting them. This process of facing discomfort in a safe, supportive space helps them grow in ways they never thought possible.

Trust: Building the Foundation for Healing

At the heart of our residential program is trust—trust in our team, trust in the process, and, most importantly, trust in themselves. Teens learn to believe in their own ability to face challenges and create change, while families rebuild the trust that may have been eroded over time.

This foundation of trust becomes the bedrock for lifelong growth, helping teens move forward with clarity, purpose, and confidence.
