Teenagers face unique challenges. Their brains are still developing, their emotions are intense, and they often lack the coping skills to manage stress, trauma, or substance use on their own.
Adult rehab programs aren’t built for that. Teen rehab is.
At Beachside Teen, our programs are designed specifically for adolescents. That means age-appropriate therapy, peer support with other teens, continued education, and family involvement. All of this is delivered within a clinically rigorous, compassionate setting on the California coast.
Beachside Teen serves families across California and beyond.
Our residential program draws teens from communities throughout the state, including:
Can’t find your city? Call us. We work with families from across California and the country to make admission as smooth as possible.
It’s normal to wonder whether what you’re seeing is “just a phase.” But some signs point to something deeper.
Consider reaching out if your teen is:
You don’t have to wait until things reach a crisis point. Our team is here to help you figure out the right next step.
Substance use in adolescence is never just about the substance. There’s almost always something underneath that the teen doesn’t know how to express. Our addiction treatment programs address both the substance use and the root causes driving it.
We provide specialized treatment for:
All substance use treatment at Beachside Teen is integrated with mental health support, because the two are rarely separate issues.
Many of the teens we work with come to us struggling with more than one challenge at a time. Anxiety and substance use. Depression and self-harm. Trauma and behavioral issues.
This is called a co-occurring disorder, or dual diagnosis and it requires treatment that addresses everything at once. Our licensed clinical team specializes in adolescent mental health.
We provide evidence-based care for:
Treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every teen at Beachside receives an individualized treatment plan built around their specific needs.
We know the idea of sending your child to a residential program can feel overwhelming.
Here’s what you can expect:
Contact our admissions team by phone or through our website. We’ll ask some initial questions to understand your teen’s situation and determine if Beachside is the right fit.
Our team will verify your insurance coverage and walk you through the financial side of treatment before you make any decisions.
Before your teen arrives, our clinical team conducts a thorough assessment. This helps us understand the full picture — diagnoses, history, strengths, and challenges — so we can build the right treatment plan from day one.
Your teen lives at our Malibu facility, participating in individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and experiential activities. They also continue their education through our Therapeutic Education Program so they don’t fall behind academically.
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. We involve families through regular therapy sessions, communication, and education so that you’re prepared to support your teen when they return home.
Before your teen leaves, we work with your family to create a solid aftercare plan. This includes referrals, ongoing therapy recommendations, and support resources to protect the progress made during treatment.
Cost is one of the biggest concerns families have when seeking residential treatment. We want to make this as straightforward as possible.
Beachside Teen works with most major insurance providers, including:
Not sure what your plan covers? Our admissions team will verify your benefits at no cost to you. We’ll tell you exactly what’s covered before you commit to anything.
Your teen’s care is only as good as the people providing it.
At Beachside Teen, our clinical team includes licensed therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, and education specialists, all with deep experience in adolescent behavioral health. Our staff-to-client ratio is intentionally small, so every teen receives the attention and individualized care they deserve.
Every member of our team is committed to one goal: helping your teenager build a foundation for a healthier, more fulfilling life.
If you’re worried about your teen, reaching out is the right move, even if you’re not sure they need residential treatment yet. Our admissions team is available to answer your questions, verify your insurance, and help you understand your options.
There’s no pressure and no obligation. Contact us today to begin.
At Beachside, our programming meets the highest standards for quality adolescent healthcare.
The length of treatment depends on your teen’s individual needs. At Beachside Teen, we use a 90-day standard as the foundation for meaningful, lasting change. Some teens may step down to a lower level of care after a shorter stay, while others benefit from extended residential treatment. Our clinical team will assess your teen’s progress regularly and make recommendations based on what’s working.
Yes. Academic continuity is a priority at Beachside Teen. Our Therapeutic Education Program is led by Director of Education Mark Paladini, who brings extensive university-level teaching experience to our program. Teens continue their schoolwork during treatment so they don’t fall behind and our ultimate goal is successful school reintegration when treatment is complete.
Inpatient treatment means your teen lives at the facility full-time. They receive around-the-clock support, a structured daily schedule, and intensive therapy. This level of care is best for teens with more serious or complex needs.
Outpatient treatment allows teens to live at home and attend therapy sessions during the day or week. It works well for teens with a stable home environment and less severe symptoms, or as a step-down after residential care.
At Beachside Teen, we specialize in residential treatment for adolescents who need a higher level of support.
Absolutely — and we believe this is essential to lasting recovery. Family therapy is a core part of every teen’s treatment plan at Beachside. We hold regular family sessions, keep parents informed throughout the process, and help families build the communication tools and understanding needed to support their teen after discharge. Healing is a family process.
Residential treatment is typically appropriate when a teen’s needs can’t be safely or effectively met at home or through outpatient care. This might include teens who are in crisis, who have tried outpatient treatment without success, who are engaging in dangerous behaviors, or who are dealing with complex co-occurring disorders.
If you’re unsure, call us. Our clinical team can conduct a thorough assessment and give you an honest recommendation, even if that recommendation turns out to be a different level of care.
